UST tops first board exam for psychometricians
Nov. 5, 2014, 3:03 p.m. - THE UNIVERSITY emerged as the only top-performing school in the first-ever licensure examination for psychometricians, with seven Thomasians landing in the top 10, including first place.
UST recorded an 81.91-percent passing rate or 163 passers out of 199 examinees, results from the Professional Regulation Commission showed.
Topnotcher Angeli Charmaine Tan led the first batch of registered psychometricians, together with Argee Gumafelix of Ateneo de Davao, after scoring 84.60 percent.
Other Thomasians in the top 10 were Sean Michael Orbigo and Erika Mae Placido at fourth place, along with Claire Bugaoisan of Manila Tytana Colleges, Inc. and Victoria Espino of Ateneo de Manila. All scored 84 percent.
Placing fifth and sixth were Arteiz Puti with a score of 83.80 and Juhnelynn Lanuza with a score of 83.60, respectively.
Tied at ninth place were Dianara Capito and Mary Rafol with a score of 83 percent. They shared the spot with Tisha Allenegui of the University of the Philippines-Diliman (UP), Mariz Borgonos of Canossa College, Vyron Loares of De La Salle University, and Maria Tuazon of UP-Angeles City.
Former Varsitarian Managing Editor Nigel Bryant Bisa Evangelista was among those who passed the exam.
The national passing rate was 39.29 percent, with a total of 1,290 passers out of 3,283 takers.
Meanwhile, 11 out of 15 Thomasians passed the October licensure examination for psychologists, yielding a 73.33-percent passing rate.

UST places second in 2016 psychometrician exams
Sept. 6, 2016 11:40 a.m. - THE UNIVERSITY was named the second top-performing school in the 2016 licensure examinations for psychometricians, with six Thomasians landing in the top 10.
UST registered a 91.86-percent passing rate with 158 Thomasians out of 172 making the cut, results from the Professional Regulation Commission showed. This was higher than the last year’s 89.25-percent passing rate in which 166 passed out of 186 Thomasian examinees. Leading the new batch of Thomasian psychometricians was Kathleen Kaye Medriano, who placed fourth with a score of 84.80. She shared the spot with Ian Timothy Sarmiento of Adamson University, and Arielle Gem Soneja and Kristina Angelica Usita of Far Eastern University (FEU).
UST's Rose Anne Silva placed seventh, along with Audrey Antonio, Miguel Francisco and Janine Ong Co Sy of Ateneo de Manila, Jacqueline Roanne Chua of Notre Dame of Dadiangas University, Raimiel Dionido and Miguel Silan of University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman, Marjorie Marzan of Adamson, and Allen James Aguilar Temena of FEU. All got a score of 84.20 percent.
At eighth place was Princess Debbie Cootauco with a score of 84 percent. She was tied with Merillie Grace Alberto of Manila Tytana Colleges, Patricia Eloise Amelda of Ateneo de Zamboanga, Lorraine Bagol of Holy Name University, Krsytell Pearl Boac of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University–Agoo, Camille Gabiana of Cebu Normal University, Joseph Liao of UP Diliman, Mariz Chloie Magayanes of University of Perpetual Help System-Laguna, Arabelle Manzano of FEU, Maria Samantha Mirani of Our Lady of Fatima University-Valenzuela, Chiaki Pelayo of Angeles University Foundation and Margie Duenas Viado of Central Luzon State University.
Thomasians Mark Lawrence Gale, Ma. Vea Antoinette Olarte and Rency Silvestre shared the ninth spot, scoring 83.80 percent. They were joined by Azlie Celine Antonio of Holy Angel University, Zayra Blanche Correos of Xavier University, Victoria Angela Mendoza, Faye Biliran Zipagan and Rodrigo Cruz of UP Diliman, Jake Cornelio Diaus of University of the Cordilleras , Alyssa-Marie Navato of Arellano University-Manila, Marian Ramarama of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Raffy Jones Sanchez of UP-Visayas in Cebu City, Chinky Claudine Sedurifa of University of San Carlos, John Bert Tutisura of UP-Visayas in IloIlo City, Julio Zayco V of Colegio San Agustin in Bacolod City.
The national passing rate went up to 50.46 percent (3,690 passers out of 7,312 takers) from last year’s 46.15 percent (2,061 passers out of 4,466 takers).
Meanwhile, five out of 13 Thomasian examinees passed the August 2016 licensure examinations for psychologists, yielding a 38.46-percent passing rate. This was lower than last year’s 42.86 percent, in which three passed out of four examinees from UST.
The national passing rate for the psychologist licensure exams rose to 52.50 percent from last year’s 47.37 percent. Mia Arra C. Camacho

Lenard Alain Espiritu led the new batch of Thomasian psychometricians, notching the fifth spot with a score of 81.40 percent.
Thomasians Angelica Mula Adia and Samantha Camille Saguin were tied in the seventh spot with a score of 81 percent, while Justine Danielle Reyes and Cirila Lecar Sahagun took the eighth spot with an 80.80-percent score.
Renz Gabriel Evangelista and Jon Darrell Nogot secured the ninth place, with a score of 80.60 percent.
Arielle Nicole Agustin, Louise Isabelle Dumaguing, Rolinda Josine Mercado and Cyrene Pangilinan clinched the 10th spot, after scoring 80.40 percent.
The University’s passing rate slipped to 88.02 percent, or 169 out of 192 examinees, from last year’s 96.53 percent, or 139 out of 144 examinees.
Ateneo de Manila University was this year’s top-performing school, posting a passing rate of 91.38 percent, or 53 out of 58 examinees.
The national passing rate was 47.73 percent, or 4,035 out of 8,453 examinees, down from last year’s 56.97 percent, or 4,957 out of 8,701 examinees.
