UST improves in Chemistry boards
Oct. 01, 2014, 8:29 p.m. - THE UNIVERSITY improved its passing rate in the 2014 licensure examination for chemists, with two Thomasians entering the top 10.
UST posted a 78.26-percent passing rate, or 36 passers out of 46 examinees, which was higher than last year’s 63.83 percent or 30 passers out of 40 examinees, results from the Professional Regulation Commission showed.
Leading the new batch of Thomasian chemists was Carlo Andres who placed fourth with a score of 88.25 percent. Another Thomasian, Angelo Gabriel Buenaventura, shared the ninth spot with Robinson Bryan Andres of University of the Philippines (UP)-Manila. Both scored 86.75 percent.
Ateneo de Manila dethroned UP-Diliman as the top-performing school this year. All 26 Ateneo examinees passed.
The national passing rate rose to 59.72 percent or 421 passers out of 705 examinees, from last year’s 56.04 percent or 320 passers out of 571 examinees. D. T. Cudal
