Thomasians top guidance counselor exams
04 September 2012, 7:57 p.m. - FOUR THOMASIANS made it to the Top 10 list of the recent guidance counselor licensure examinations.
The University posted a 91.67-percent passing rate, with 11 passers out of 12 examinees in the August 2012 exams. This was higher than last year’s 80 percent, equivalent to four passers out of five examinees.
Leading the new batch of Thomasian guidance counselors is Nerizza Valdellon, who ranked third with a score of 85.30 percent. She was followed by Aileen Grace Ong who scored 85.20 percent, good for fourth place.
Other Thomasians in the Top 10 were Via Katrina Granada (84.25 percent) and Khristine Lorraine Lim (83.95 percent), who placed sixth and seventh, respectively.
There were no Thomasian topnotchers last year.
This year’s national passing rate improved to 55.06 percent, equivalent to 185 passers out of 336 examinees, from last year’s 50.20 percent or 125 passers out of 249 examinees. Bernadette D. Nicolas

UST posts lower score in guidance counselor exams
02 September 2013, 10:25 p.m. - UST's passing rate plunged in the recent licensure examinations for guidance counselors, with just one Thomasian entering the top 10 list.
Five out of eight UST examinees passed, equivalent to a 62.50-percent passing rate. This was lower than last year's 91.67 percent or 11 passers out of 12 examinees.
Thomasian Danielle Marie Cruz, who got a score of 84.55 percent, placed third overall. There were four Thomasian topnotchers last year.
This year’s national passing rate also went down to 41.12 percent or 169 passers out of 411 examinees, from last year’s 55.06 percent or 185 passers out of 336 examinees. John Joseph G. Basijan
