October 2010 CPA Board Exam result
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that 3,973 out of 8,216 passed the Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination given by the Board of Accountancy in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo and Legazpi this October 2010.
The results were released in one (1) day after the last day of examination.
The members of the Board of Accountancy are Eugene T. Mateo, Chairman;
Ma. Elenita B. Cabrera, Vice Chairman; Luis A. Cañete, Rufo R. Mendoza and Jose S. Tayag, Jr., Members.
Registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will start on Friday, October 22, 2010 but not later than November 16, 2010. Those who will register are required to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), 2 pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete nametag), 2 pieces 1” x 1” picture (colored with white background and complete nametag), 2 sets of metered documentary stamps, and 1 short brown envelope with name and profession; and to pay the Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450 for 2010-2013. Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.
The oathtaking ceremony of the successful examinees in the said examination as well as the previous ones who have not taken their Oath of Professional will be held before the Board on Friday, November 26, 2010 at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.
Registration for Membership with the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants will start on Friday, October 22, 2010.

UST passing rate down in off-season CPA board
May 22, 1:56 p.m. - THE UNIVERSITY posted a lower passing rate in the recent licensure examination for certified public accountants (CPA), results from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) showed.
UST got a 69.09-percent passing rate, with 76 out of 110 Thomasian examinees making the cut. This was lower than last year’s 71.26 percent, in which 122 passed out of 170 examinees.
Fifty-nine out of 78 first-time takers and 17 out of 32 repeaters from UST passed the test. UST accounting graduates usually take the CPA exam in October.
Thomasian Katherine Rose Catindig placed second overall with a score of 94.43 percent, only a few notches behind San Beda College’s Manuel Buensuceso, Jr., the topnotcher, who scored 94.86 percent.
The national passing rate went down to 38.50 percent, with 1,995 passers out of 5,315 examinees. Last year's national passing rate stood at 40.50 percent, with 2,130 passers out of 5,259 examinees.

Thomasians top CPA board exams
15 October 2012, 4:47 p.m. - THE UNIVERSITY dominated the October licensure exams for certified public accountants (CPA), with five Thomasians entering the Top 10 list.
UST recorded a significantly higher overall passing rate of 93.09 percent, with 377 out of the 405 examinees making the cut. The passing rate last year was 88.86 percent.
Leading the new batch of Thomasian CPAs are Bren Cruz and Celaica Vibar, who shared the first spot with a score of 94.14 percent. Other Thomasian topnotchers were Kervin Reyes (92.43), who placed ninth; and Tristan John De Guzman and Eloisa Galang (92.29), who shared the 10th place.
The University, which had the largest number of examinees, ranked third in the roster of the top-performing schools. It trailed behind the University of the Philippines (UP) – Diliman, which recorded a 100-percent passing rate, and Bicol University-Daraga, which posted a 96.83-percent passing rate. Last year, UST ranked second on the list of the top-performing schools.

28 May 2013, 7:46 p.m. - THE UNIVERSITY’S passing rate dropped in the recent off-season licensure exams for certified public accountants (CPA), with no Thomasian entering the top 10 list of passers.
UST got a 50-percent passing rate, with just 52 out of 104 Thomasian examinees making the cut. This was lower than last year’s 69.09 percent, in which 76 out of 110 examinees passed.
Forty out of 75 Thomasian first-time takers and 12 out of 29 repeaters passed the recent test. No Thomasian made it to the list of topnotchers this year.
Last year, Katherine Rose Catindig placed second, scoring 94.43 percent. De La Salle University was the only top-performing school in this year’s licensure exam, with an 88.33-percent passing rate. UST failed to meet the requirement of at least an 80-percent passing rate and a minimum 50 examinees to be declared a top-performing school.
UST accounting graduates usually take the CPA board exam in October.

Leading the new batch of Thomasian CPAs is second-ranked Loraine Santos, who got a score of 92.86 percent. Jayrod Natnat, meanwhile, shared the 10th spot with Laurence Paulo Tiquia of Baliuag University, having identical scores of 91.14 percent. Five Thomasians entered the top 10 last year.
Despite having the most number of successful examinees, the University slipped to fourth place from third on the list of top-performing schools. It trailed behind University of the Philippines-Diliman, which recorded a 98.81-percent passing rate; De La Salle University-Manila (92.86 percent); and the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (90 percent).
