514 pass medical technologist exam

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that 514 out of 873 passed the Medical Technologist Licensure Examination given by the Board of Medical Technology in the cities of Manila, Baguio, and Cebu this March, 2010.
The successful examinees who garnered the 10 highest places are the following: 1. Zane Kevin Ko Gervacio, University of Santo Tomas, 88.30%; 2. Krizza-Almond Sarmiento Aguilar, Centro Escolar University-Manila, 87.70%; 3. Merla Ilagan Bitonia, Lyceum of Batangas, 87.60%; 4. Grethel Severino Navarro, Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation,87.40%; 5.Michael Coloma Bangloy, University of Baguio, 86.80%; 6. Mark Laurence Seminiano Ventura, Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation, 86.70%; 7. Glena Hernandez Biteño, Saint Louis University, 86.30%; 8. Niño Aluague De Jesus, Trinity University of Asia (Trinity-QC), 86.10%; 9. Warith-Thia Muhajil Elang, Universidad De Zamboanga (Zaec), 85.80%; 10. Blesil Ceniza Achas, Velez College, 85.50 %.
On the Board of Medical Technology which gave the licensure examination are Dr. Marietta C. Baccay, Chairperson; and Ms. Marilyn R. Atienza and Ms. Marian M. Tantingco, members.
The results were released in three working days from the last day of examination.
Registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will start on Monday, March 15, 2010 but not later than March 26, 2010. Those who will register are required to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), 2 pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), 1 piece 1” x 1” picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), 2 sets of metered documentary stamps, and 1 short brown envelope with name and profession; and to pay the Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450 for 2010-2013.
The oath-taking ceremony of the successful examinees in the said examination as well as the previous ones who have not taken their Oath of Professional will be held before the Board on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at 1 in the afternoon at the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel, One Rizal Park, Manila.
Registration for membership with the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, Inc. (PAMET) will start on Monday, March 15, 2010.

UST places third in Medtech boards
September 8, 12: 31 a.m. - DESPITE its sterling performance in the medical technology board examinations this year, UST fell to third place after being last year’s top-performing school.
The University produced the most number of new medical technologists among all schools, with 249 passers out of 264 Thomasian examinees. UST’s passing rate went down to 94.32 percent from 94.72 percent last year.
Only 12 of the 256 first-time examinees and three of the eight repeaters from UST failed the exam.
Saint Louis University emerged as this year’s top-performing school, with a passing rate of 100 percent from only 60 examinees, followed by Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation, with 95.16 percent or 59 passers out of 62 examinees. San Pedro College-Davao City (85.14 percent) took the fourth and final spot in the list of top-performing schools, but produced only 63 passers out of 74 examinees.
Meanwhile, class 2010 valedictorian and summa cum laude Ma. Cecilia Santos (89.50 percent) placed sixth in the list of topnotchers, while Cherry Rose Reyes (89.20 percent) placed eighth.
This year’s national passing rate increased to 75.87 from last year’s 71.21 percent.

06 September 2012, 12:31 a.m. - THE UNIVERSITY was named as the second top-performing school in the recent licensure examinations for medical technologists, with five Thomasians entering the Top 10 list.
UST registered a 95.36-percent passing rate in the September 2012 board exams, slightly higher than the 94.32 percent recorded last year, when it was named the third top-performing school.
This year, UST trailed behind Velez College, Saint Louis University, and Far Eastern University-Manila.
Out of the 280 Thomasian examinees this year, 267 passed, 262 of which were first-time examinees. In 2011, 249 of 264 Thomasians passed the test.
Leading the crop of new Thomasian medical technologists is Lei Di Avril Agdeppa, who took the second spot with a score of 91.00, just a few notches away from topnotcher Matthew Joseph Po of Velez College who scored 91.70 percent.
Other Thomasian topnotchers are Kevin Santana (90.10 percent), Marissa Katrina Santos (89.90 percent), Albert Chua (89.80 percent), and Ana Eryka Elaine Peralta (89.70 percent), who grabbed the seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth places, respectively.
Last year, only two Thomasians entered the Top 10 list, taking the sixth and eighth places.

05 September 2013, 11:55 a.m. - DESPITE a high 95.19-percent passing rate, UST’s ranking slipped in the recent licensure examinations for medical technologists.
With 277 passers out of 291 examinees, the University emerged as this year’s eighth top-performing school. Last year, UST ranked second after posting a 95.36-percent passing rate, with 267 out 280 Thomasian examinees making the cut.
Leading the new crop of Thomasian medical technologists is Kim Abbegail Aldecoa, who ranked second in the top 10 list of passers with a score of 91.30 percent. Jan Bendric Borbe (89.70%) ranked eighth.
UST dominated last year’s exams after five Thomasians made it to the top 10 list.
This year, Saint Louis University and Cagayan State University-Caritan were the top schools. UST trailed behind Velez College, Siliman University, University of Negros Occidental Recoletos, San Pedro College-Davao City, Angeles University Foundation and Far Eastearn University-Nicanor Reyes Foundation.
