Thomasians dominate Pharmacy boards

02 July 2013, 9:02 p.m. - THE UNIVERSITY once again dominated the recent Pharmacy licensure examinations, with six Thomasians entering the top 10 list.

UST emerged as this year's third top-performing school after it recorded an 80.27-percent passing rate or 293 passers out of 365 examinees, data from the Professional Regulation Commission showed. This was lower than last year’s 88.92 percent, with 281 out of 316 examinees making the cut.

Leading the new crop of Thomasian pharmacists is Clinical Pharmacy summa cum laude Ryan Justin Raynes, who landed in second place with a score of 93.65 percent.

Other Thomasians in the Top 10 are Marc Oliver Armeña (92.45%), Noel Tan, Jr. (92.30%), Joshua Santos (92.27%), and Shervin Cruzado and Pamela Berilyn So (92.05%), who took the third, fourth, fifth, and seventh spots, respectively.

Last year, six Thomasians also entered the Top 10 list.

Saint Louis University was again named the top-performing school with a passing rate of 98.39 percent, or 122 passers out of 124 examinees. It was followed by Our Lady of Fatima University-Valenzuela with a 91.04-percent passing rate.

This year, the national passing rate went down to 58.96 percent, or 1,385 passers out of 2,349 examinees, from last year’s 63.11 percent. Celton F. Ramirez

Thomasian tops Pharmacy board exams

27 June 2014, 1:15 a.m. - A THOMASIAN topped the June 2014 Pharmacy licensure examination, while three other UST alumni made it to the top 10.

Hannah Cathlyne Co, who scored 90.47 percent, led the 268 new Thomasian pharmacists. A total of 328 UST graduates took the exams this year.

UST remained the third top-performing school after posting an 81.71-percent passing rate, results from the Professional Regulation Commission showed. This was higher than last year’s 80.2 percent.

Thomasian Elmer Tagra II tied for second place with Mark Kua of University of the Philippines-Manila, with identical scores of 90.38 percent. Rovileen Barroquiña placed fourth with a score of 90.30 percent, while Kristine Lei Rivera was tied with Kristine Anne Ponce of Our Lady of Fatima University-Valenzuela at 10th place with identical scores of 89.67 percent. Last year, six Thomasians landed in the top 10.

Former Varsitarian sports editor Alexis Cerado was among those who passed the exam.

Saint Louis University of Baguio was named the top-performing school anew with a passing rate of a 95.67 percent, or 158 passers out of 165 examinees. It was followed by Cebu's University of San Carlos which had an 85.71-percent passing rate, equivalent to 60 passers out of 70 examinees.

UST grad tops Pharmacy board exams

July 22, 2015, 9:05 p.m. - FOUR Thomasians landed in the top 10 of the July 2015 pharmacy licensure examination, including the topnotcher.

Leading the new batch of Thomasian pharmacists is Mark Dumago, who had a score of 93.35 percent.

With the most number of examinees, UST remained the third top-performing school after posting a 93.56-percent passing rate, equivalent to 247 passers out of 264 examinees, results from the Professional Regulation Commission showed. This was higher than last year’s passing rate of 81.71 percent, equivalent to 268 passers out of 328 examinees.

Other Thomasians who made it to the top 10 were Arianne Angeli Baluyut (92.03 percent) at fourth place, Darwin Bryan Kiong (91.70 percent) who was tied with Katrina Angelie Pieldad of San Pedro College-Davao City at seventh place, and Chriselle Marie Mirhan (91.42 percent) at 10th place.

The Varsitarian Science and Technology editor Hedrix Ar-Ar Caballe was among those who passed.

UST regains momentum in pharmacy board exams

January 27, 2016, 11:54p.m. - A THOMASIAN made it to the top 10 of the January 2016 pharmacy licensure examinations, in which UST significantly improved its passing rate.

Thomasian Patricia Marie Sigua scored 91.28 percent and placed eighth in the top 10, results from the Professional Regulation Commission showed.

The University recorded an 81.43-percent passing rate, with 57 examinees making the cut out of 70. This was a big improvement from last year, when 35 examinees passed the exams out 52, or a 67.3-percent passing rate.

UST ranked fifth on the list of top-performing schools. Top-ranking Saint Louis University of Baguio scored a 98.24-percent passing rate, with 167 passing the test out of 170 examinees.

Mariano Marcos State University-Batac placed second overall with a passing rate of 86.64 percent. Our Lady of Fatima University-Quezon City ranked third with an 84.62-percent passing rate. San Pedro College-Davao City placed fourth with a passing rate of 82.76-percent.

The national passing rate slipped to 54.87 percent with 1,487 examinees passing the test out of 2,710 examinees. Last year, 1,292 made the cut out of 2,295 examinees, or a 56.3 percent passing rate. Dayanara T. Cudal

With few examinees, UST passing rate in pharma board down

June 15, 2016, 11:59a.m. - THE UNIVERSITY recorded a lower passing rate in the June 2016 licensure examinations for pharmacists due to a significant drop in the number of examinees.

UST recorded a 63.64-percent passing rate, with 14 passing the test out of 22 examinees, results from the Professional Regulation Commission showed. This was lower compared with last year’s passing rate of 93.56 percent, in which 247 Thomasians made the cut out of 264 examinees.

The 22 UST examinees were graduates who were unable to take the 2015 exams.

Recent Faculty of Pharmacy graduates did not join the exams as the list of graduates and board takers were not submitted to the PRC last May 23. In addition, their transcript of records, which is part of the requirements to take the examinations, were not yet distributed to the graduates. The next pharmacy board exams will be in January 2017.

John Bryan Guadalupe Ruba of the University of the Immaculate Conception-Davao led the new batch of pharmacists, placing first with a score of 92.85 percent.

San Pedro College-Davao City was named the sole top-performing pharmacy school. It had a passing rate of 88.14 percent, with 104 passing the test out of 118 examinees.

The national passing rate declined to 50.50 percent, or 1,406 passers out of 2,784 examinees, from last year’s 63.78-percent passing rate, or 2,004 passers out of 3,142 takers. Maria Crisanta M. Paloma and Mia Arra C. Camacho
