UST tops 2016 electrical engineering board exams anew
Sept. 8, 2016, 12:03 a.m. - THE UNIVERSITY was named the top-performing school anew in the September 2016 electrical engineering licensure examinations.
UST recorded a 98.48-percent passing rate, with 65 passing the test out of 66 Thomasian examinees, results from the Professional Regulation Commission showed.
Last year’s passing rate was 98.61 percent, with 71 passing the test out of 72 examinees from UST.
Leading the new batch of Thomasian electrical engineers was Zedisteo Vivo Jr., who placed 10th overall with a score of 89.10 percent. Alfred Isaac Ajo of the Cebu Institute of Technology topped this year’s exams with a score of 92.40 percent.
The national passing rate rose to 68.46 percent, with 2,817 passing the test out of 4,115 examinees, from last year’s 63.01 percent (2,536 out of 3,772 examinees).
A lone examinee from UST meanwhile passed the master electrician licensure exam. Theodore Jason Patrick K. Ortiz

UST improves in civil eng'g board exams, ranks fourth
Nov. 17 2016, 8:30 a.m. - THE UNIVERSITY recorded a higher passing rate and ranked fourth on the list of top-performing schools in the November 2016 civil engineering board exams.
UST attained a passing rate of 85.98 percent with 184 out of 214 examinees hurdling the test, results from the Professional Regulation Commission showed. This was higher than last year's 78.64 percent, in which 162 passed out of 206 examinees from UST.
The University of the Philippines-Diliman was named the top-performing school, scoring a 96.08-percent passing rate with 98 of its 102 examinees making the cut.
Sirven Garibay of UP-Los Baños clinched the No. 1 spot on the list of top 10 passers, with a score of 93.20 percent.
The national passing rate rose to 45.90 percent, with 5,036 out of 10,972 examinees making the cut. Last year's passing rate hit 41.50 percent, with 3,935 out of 9,482 examinees passing the exams. Theodore Jason Patrick K. Ortiz

2 Thomasians in top 10 of chemical eng’g boards
Nov. 22 2016, 9:54 p.m. - TWO THOMASIANS entered the top 10 list of passers in the November 2016 chemical engineering board exams as the University posted a higher a passing rate.
UST attained a passing rate of 66.14 percent, with 84 making the cut out of 127 examinees, results from the Professional Regulation Commission showed. This was higher than last year's 64.55 percent, with 71 passing the test out of 110 examinees.
Leading the new batch of Thomasian chemical engineers was Samuel Penn Sy at sixth place with a score of 81 percent. Thomasian Beatriz Claire Torre[/] placed ninth with a score of 80.70 percent.
Clarence Joseph Co of De La Salle University-Manila clinched the top spot with a score of 85.50 percent.
The University of the Philippines-Diliman was named the top-performing school, with an overall passing rate of 95.71 percent or 67 making the cut out of 70 examinees.
The national passing rate climbed to 58.17 percent, with 534 out of 918 examinees hurdling the test.

THE UNIVERSITY registered a 72.73-perent passing rate in the March 2017 mechanical engineering board exams, results from the Professional Regulation Commission showed.
Eight Thomasians made the cut out of 11 who took the exam. This was lower than last year’s 81.08 percent, in which 30 Thomasians made the cut out of 37 examinees.
Brylle Glbuena of the University of Cebu emerged as this year’s topnotcher, after scoring 88.10 percent.
Batangas State University-Alangilan was named this year’s top-performing school, with all its 66 examinees passing the exam.
The national passing rate rose to 56.88 percent, with 1,083 passing the test out of 1,904 examinees. Last year’s passing rate was 55.32 percent, with just 910 passing the test out of 1,645 examinees.

THE UNIVERSITY got a perfect score in the April 2017 electrical engineering board exams, with all seven Thomasian examinees passing the test.
This was an improvement from last year’s 92.31-percent passing rate, in which 12 out of 13 Thomasians passed the test.
The national passing rate rose to 44.92 percent, with 994 people making the cut out of 2,213 examinees.
This was higher than last year’s 41.29 percent wherein 808 passed out of 1,957 examinees.

UST passing rate drops in May 2017 civil engineering board exams By Theodore Jason Patrick K. Ortiz - May 12, 20170596
THE UNIVERSITY posted a 44.47-percent passing rate in the recent civil engineering licensure exams, results from the Professional Regulation Commission showed.
Seventeen Thomasians passed out of 38 examinees. This was a drop from last year’s 71.43 percent, in which 35 made the cut out of 49 examinees.
De La Salle University-Manila was named top-performing school with a passing rate of 81.90 percent, or 86 successful examinees out of 105.
Hishiam Sacar from Far Eastern University-East Asia College topped the list of examinees with 94.60 percent.
The national passing rate rose to 44.48 percent, or 2,514 successful examinees out of 6,998 hopefuls.
This was higher than last year’s 38.17 percent, in which only 2,245 passed out of 5,881 examinees.

THE UNIVERSITY posted a higher passing rate in the May 2017 chemical engineering board exams, results from the Professional Regulation Commission showed.
UST registered a 58.82-percent passing rate, with 20 passing the test out of 34 Thomasian examinees.
This was higher than last year’s 52.50-percent passing rate, in which 21 made the cut out of 40 examinees.
Wayne Lorenz Tandingan from University of San Carlos in Cebu topped the exam after scoring an average of 85.20 percent.
De La Salle University was named the top-performing school after it registered a 94.12-percent passing rate, or 32 passing out of 34 examinees.
The national passing rate declined to 55.26 percent from last year’s 64.13 percent.
