THOMASIAN EXPRESSIONS Office of Public Affairs and Social Media Bureau
We would like to seek the assistance of our fellow Thomasians in drumbeating the apostolic visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to the Philippines through an activity called “Thomasian Expressions”.
“Thomasian Expressions” is UST’s gesture of love for Pope Francis, the third Pope to visit the Philippines. Being a Pontifical university, it is but fitting that we join the various sectors of the government and the Catholic Church in their efforts to make the papal visit memorable.
“Thomasian Expressions” will comprise of activities/ projects participated in by Thomasians that also highlight the uniqueness of the faculty/college such as: the Faculty of Arts and Letters may produce/write poetry, or other literary types on Pope Francis, the relationship between the Pope and the University, and the students’ thoughts on the papal visit; the Faculty of Engineering may design a Filipino Pope mobile, the Conservatory of Music may compose a musical piece; CTHM may create a special dish named after the Pope; or the Ecclesiastical Faculties may write slogans in Latin, English or Filipino. Considering the creativity of your students, the list is going to be endless.
Salamat po!

USAID STRIDE
The UST Guidance and Counseling Department is proud to announce its receipt of a grant from the Science, Technology, Research, and Innovation for Development (STRIDE) Program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to make the University of Santo Tomas a MODEL CAREER DEVELOPMENT CENTER in the country.
The USAID-STRIDE grant will provide assistance to the UST-GCD through needs assessment, intensive training for counselors, consultation with career experts from universities in the US, monitoring and follow up for three years to establish a fully functional career center.
The initial consultative meetings and training workshops were held last September 1-5, 2014 facilitated by Ms. Christine Yip-Cruzvergara, University Career Services Director of George Mason University, and Joseph Testani, University Career Center Director of Virginia Commonwealth University.
This marks a significant milestone in the department’s goal of providing effective and efficient career services which will immensely benefit the Thomasian students and alumni. Eventually, the UST-GCD will be assisting other universities and colleges in the delivery of career services being one of the model career centers in the country
